Being able to buy freshly caught fish and seafood along the very shores it was caught from is one of the great pleasures of a holiday on the coast. Landed by their own boats this is fish at its very freshest and seasonal. Expert staff can fillet and prepare your choice for you and even give your advice on how best to cook it. Choose from pots of plump, pink prawns, whole Dover sole or dressed crab for a real Suffolk supper.
The fish shop and smokehouse can be found on the site of the Friday Street Farm Shop. They have over 20 years experience in catching and selling fish and seafood from the UK, and where possible locally from East Anglian waters. There’s a real passion for the environmental impact of fishing here and especially small scale fishing so that the catch is sustainable. Kippers and their own recipe smoked salmon are a speciality and can be bought in the shop or online.
Organic, seasonal vegetables with low food miles all produced to Soil Association standards are the main focus here. However there is a lot more on offer including fresh organic eggs from their own free range hens, Suffolk honey from their own bees, organic home reared beef, pork and lamb and organic potted herbs. Their speciality is their own range of flours including rye and spelt, which are all unbleached, traditionally stone milled and contain no preservatives.
This traditional Suffolk butcher boasts a variety of locally sourced beef, lamb, poultry and seasonal game. The Suffolk cured bacon and smoked ham will undoubtedly warm cold winter mornings, whilst the delicous homemade pies and sausages make for delightfully effortless summer barbeques.
