Suffolk Weddings at Wilderness Reserve
Celebrate your day in the luxurious surroundings of Wilderness Reserve, a unique 5,000 acre private estate in glorious Suffolk
Set within thousands of acres of parkland, lakes and woods Sibton Park is the quintessential setting for an English country wedding. The Georgian manor, built in 1827, is licensed for civil ceremonies of up to 100 guests in its drawing room with hand-painted Chinese wallpaper, grand fireplace and views across parkland to the serpentine lake. The manor house has twelve bedrooms but close family and friends can be accommodated on and around the estate’s farmhouses, cottages and barns meaning you have 50 bedrooms at your disposal. Receptions can take place in the dining room, drawing room, in a marquee or in the Orangery, a new purpose-built space for wedding receptions and events at the side of the manor which opens in May 2017. The Orangery will seat up to 120 for a wedding breakfast, however, for larger receptions a marquee can be added on the lawn directly outside. Hex Cottage, a short drive from the main estate, is the perfect mini-moon for the newly-weds, alone, candlelit and electricity-free.
Wind up the serpentine drive, over the ornamental bridge and past the lake and the honey-coloured stone façade of Sibton Park is revealed. The manor, built in 1827 by Robert Sayer, once Sheriff of Suffolk, to designs by the celebrated architect Decimus Burton, has giant Ionic pillars creating a dramatic portico entrance. Once inside, take your pick from any number of receptions with classic Georgian proportions to relax in, such as the bright morning room, study or formal dining room. Think open fires, fine antique furniture and chandeliers alongside discreet technology. Outside, there is a large private courtyard and large terrace – which can be accessed via the drawing room – overlooking grazing cows, parkland and the serpentine lake beyond.
